Using CSI Ocean, together.

By creating an account or using the CSI Ocean app, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

CSI Ocean is a citizen science platform that enables users to identify, record, and submit microplastic observations from water, air, and snow environments. Your submissions contribute to a shared scientific dataset aimed at understanding and protecting ocean health.

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must provide accurate and truthful information when registering and submitting observations.
• You may not share your account or use another person's account without their permission.
• You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You agree to use CSI Ocean only for its intended purpose. You must not:

• Submit false, fabricated, or misleading observation data.
• Upload content that is illegal, offensive, or violates the rights of others.
• Attempt to interfere with, hack, or disrupt the app or its underlying services.
• Use the app for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute data from the app without authorisation.

You retain ownership of the photos and observation data you submit. By submitting content, you grant CSI Ocean a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, store, display, and share your submissions for the purposes of the platform and associated scientific research. Observation data may be published in anonymised or aggregated form.

All rights in the CSI Ocean app, including its design, code, branding, and content (excluding user-submitted observations), are owned by or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of the app without our express written permission.

The CSI Ocean app is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the scientific data it produces will be suitable for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CSI Ocean and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of data or inaccurate scientific results.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes within the app. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
